1964 Lotus Seven Series II Cosworth
One of Colin Chapman's classic designs, this car was first registered in Hong Kong in December 1965 as BE 4016 with a 1500cc Ford Cosworth 116E engine and white bodywork. It first raced in Zuhai in the late 1980’s and was acquired by its current owner in 2003. It was subsequently rebuilt and race prepared by David McCrory at DS Autos in Northern Ireland. It has raced competitively in Class “O” of the Hong Kong Classic Car Club / Asia Classic Car Challenge at Sepang in Malaysia since 2006, winning its Class in 2010. The current engine is a full race 1700cc Ford X/Flow producing 188bhp @ 7,200rpm with a 5-speed close ratio Quaife transmission. The front suspension and brakes have been upgraded to Caterham R500 specification while the rear still retains an original solid Ford back axle, albeit converted to disc brakes. Wheels are magnesium 6½” x 13” front and 8½” x 13”rear running on Hoosier slick racing tyres.

1961 T120 Triumph Bonneville
I drew this because I enjoyed drawing the previous one so much and the wheels are such a challenge.

Land Rover 'Hotspur'
Whilst working in Belfast in the 1980's, I became familiar with the distnctive sound of military style tyres on the road. Often they were Humber 'Pigs' of the Army, but more frequently they were the Land Rover 'Hotspur' armoured vehicles of the Royal Ulster Constabulary. With their sombre grey livery and the mesh and rubber skirts that touched the road, they were the vehicular embodiment of the 'Daleks' from the Dr Who television series. Their sound, along with that of helicopters overhead, will be a lasting memory.
